Workout done at Pace

It was a terrible evening – rainy and cold. I did the 6 x 800m workout at the 3:50 pace on the dot. At this pace I’m able to easily carry on conversations, and have to noticeably relax to keep from going faster. My plan for this weekend is to run the race at this easy pace for this first half and then to kick it home from there. I will need to do some race route reconnaisance ahead of time, so that I know where the checkpoints are. I know that I can run faster than 48min 10K, I just have to get through my mental block and actually do it.

I found this pace calculator where you can work out what times you should be running on the track from your projected 10km times.

  • 43min 10km pace = 1:43 for 400m, 3:26 for 800m
  • 45min 10km pace = 1:48 for 400m, 3:36 for 800m
  • 48min 10km pace = 1:55 for 400m, 3:50 for 800m

We’ve got a track workout tonight 6 x 800m and I’m going to try and run @ 45-48 min 10km pace.
