    February Bike Challenge

I have accepted a challenge, worse I even up’d the ante – and bet on it. The challenge is to ride your bike every day in February for at least 1hr. No make up rides the next day & no whining (ok, I admit – I added the no whining part for myself). My friend Murray has 5 other silly ninny’s who’ve agreed to accept his challenge via facebook. I was thinking to myself about all the excuses for days that I’m going to be way too busy to ride, how my coach is not going to like this plan, and I how I didn’t actually officially accept the challenge… Murray just kinda assumed that I was in. [Whine, whine, whine.] I don’t even know all the other guys. [Not fair, poor me] I’ve got to say, “I hate it when I whine”. Even if it is only internally. So, in a rash moment of “What the hell?!” I went and bet everyone that I could do it and they couldn’t. $20 to the charity of their choice, if they finish and I don’t!

    Shoot.

On my bike commute in this morning, I was thinking to myself that this wouldn’t even be a challenge (and people wouldn’t think we’re crazy) if we all lived in Amsterdam – where bike culture is part of everyone’s life.

Do trainer rides count? I’ll get out when I can but trainer rides might have to do in a pinch. I’d do the ride to work but that’s not all that practical when you work across the hall from your bedroom. Although that is a funny mental picture. Keep the bike in the bedroom to go from room to room for my morning bike to work! Hee hee… bike to get coffee… bike to lunch! oh dear. I don’t think I could do an hour every day. On the fence on this one. My excitement over picture a day and the trouble that has gotten me into has evidently taught me a lesson in leaping without looking.

Trainer rides count. The big thing is that you can’t do a make up ride. No 2hrs tomorrow to make up for skipping today, kinda thing. It’s at least 1hr every calendar day in February.

    Cool!

I’d bet $20 that you can do it but then the charity wouldn’t get any money (‘cuz of course you’ll succeed). But if bet you don’t then you may have an incentive NOT to complete it.

Okay, $0.50 for every day you ride if you don’t complete it or $28.00 if you do.

And no, I have no intention of joining you. I’m already overloaded with taking one picture a day, not sure what 60 minutes of riding would do.
